Personal note

I am Viktor Alexander De Ryck and my life had never been ordinary. I got a chance to experience a lot (good and bad) but have always aimed at doing things differently. Why? Because I simply had to, wanted to, needed to. I am dyslectic, so I just see things differently. That is an advantage. I also learn in a different way and there is nothing bad about it. I learn experientially and profit from my mistakes and try again in a different way. What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning. I am not straight. I am convinced that we do not need to put people in boxes, cause each and every person is worth looking at in its own special, different way. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to express myself in a different way: in music, dance and pictures.

My beliefs

I believe we should be honest with ourselves and not take ourselves too serious, and never condemn the other fellow for doing what we are doing every day, only in a different way. As a matter of fact, each person sees the world in a different way. There is not a single, unifying truth, since we are all limited by our perspective.

It was Edward De Bono who said that creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.

My education

I grew up in a small town and went to high school in the area. Although I was told that my dyslexia learning disorder would make it very difficult for me to successfully achieve higher education goals, I persevered and made it. While most of my friends immediately choose an educational direction, I decided to follow my dream. Off I went with Education First to study in New York, San Francisco and Paris for one year. It was a great and rewarding experience. I got to know lots of international people, went out of my comfort zone and obtained the Cambridge Advanced English Degree. This year abroad, gave me the opportunity to discover more about me: my strengths, weaknesses, ambitions and dreams. I decided to pursue a higher education in the world of new media. At Thomas More, I obtained a bachelors degree in Media and Entertainment Business. To complete the skills needed in my future professional life, I started another bachelor i.e. Digital Media Manager.
